Join us to celebrate the release of our new album, The Magic, with its first public listening at The Bug Theatre. Five years in the making, it’s our most intricate, complete, and personal work yet.
We’ve been craving more connected experiences. We’re tired of endless scrolling, music becoming a background activity, and constantly checking our phones. We miss being with people in a room together. We miss listening to an album from beginning to end.
So we decided to build a night around that feeling.
The Magic is an “audio movie” that follows a relationship from its first spark, telling both sides through songs and recorded conversations. You sometimes understand what both people are feeling before either one does. It asks an uncomfortable question: “What if I’m a big part of the problem?”
Comedy and a short film to start, then lights down for the complete album, beginning to end. Lyrics will be projected for anyone who wants to follow along, or close your eyes and let the record do the rest. Afterward, a conversation with us, audience questions, and time to meet each other. And we’ll have you out by 9:30 so you still have your night.Doors 6:30 PM · Program starts 7:00 PM · Out by 9:30 PM
Get comfortable. Blankets and eye masks welcome. We ask that phones are off during the album.
$20 admission · $30 with the CD
CDs are $10 at the event. Take the album home before its January 29 digital release on Bandcamp and February 26 streaming release.
For Mixed Messages fans: If you liked the story of Mixed Messages, this album is the full story. There’ll be comedy and film to start, but the heart of this night is over an hour of listening to music.
